But some reviews are tricky, like the one you’re reading now – our TopBet.eu review. This is a trickier review because TopBet has a somewhat shady history.

From about 2002 to 2011, they worked with a company named FutureBet. FutureBet apparently handled everything for them, from the software to payment processing.

The latter is what got TopBet in trouble.

What they didn’t know – what no operator knew until it was too late – is that FutureBet likes to process deposits. But they don’t like to process cash outs. They took the money and ran, screwing both the operator and customer in one swoop..

You could say this wasn’t entirely TopBet’s fault. And, you’d be right. But here’s what’s weird about their business today.

They came back under new management after a brief hiatus in 2011-2012. They made the decision to handle their own payment processing. But what’s crazy is they decided to continue using FutureBet’s software.

Say what?

You’d think TopBet would want nothing to do with FutureBet since they stole more than $1 million from online gamblers and operators over the past decade. That it’d be worth the money to develop your own platform.

But that’s not the case.

This makes it trickier to review them since you have to wonder why they’d continue to work with a rogue company. You have to wonder if they can be trusted any more today than before 2011-2012.

(Especially when you read about their current cash out problems.)

We’ll tell you where we stand on the issue in just a minute. But, for now, let’s get into our review and see what TopBet has to offer.

Rec-Focused Sportsbook

TopBet’s main product is their sportsbook. They focus heavily on US sports with a few international sports and events mixed in.

Sports betting professionals say they have one of the largest selections of football markets online – that most of their competitors don’t even come close.

They also have lots of different bets, which include sides, totals, futures, parlays, teasers, if-bets, reverses, player and team props. So, while they don’t have the breadth most sportsbooks do, they have depth – you have more options per sport they cover.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that many of their bets – such as parlays, teasers and if-bets – are average, at best. And many of their props, futures and live bets are outright horrible.

That includes their betting limits, too. For example, the NFL and NCAA football markets have limits of $2,000 for sides and total. And their other markets are even smaller yet, with $1,000 sides or $500 max on totals.

To give you some perspective, you can bet as much as $20,000 to $50,000 per NFL side, or as much as $20,000 on NFL totals and moneylines when you join Bookmaker.

Bookmaker’s pricing is better, too. Competitive, but better.

Experts say this is because TopBet.eu largely focuses on recreational bettors – bettors who probably wouldn’t know a good price or bet if it smacked him in the face, let alone care.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though, as you should have multiple sportsbook accounts to compare and get the best line prices anyway. If anything, you can have an account here simply for the larger selection of (football) bets TopBet offers that no one else does.

Lop-Sided Casino

The TopBet Casino is powered by Ace Gaming and BetSoft.

For the longest time I praised BetSoft for their software. It looks great and their games – especially their 3D slots – are a blast to play. I can play them for hours even on ‘free’ mode.

But they’ve been in the news recently for rigging their jackpots.

Not long ago a customer won a jackpot during a free spin round. But the casino (Betcoin) refused to pay them because of some non-existent rule they didn’t add until after the fact.

Then, according to reports, both BetSoft and Betcoin paid this person to say good things about them.

It’s hard to say if this is a one-time ordeal, or if it’s a sign of what’s to come.

What’s the catch?

TopBet requires that you rollover the bonus or free bets so many times before you can cash out. How much you have to wager depends on where and what you’re playing.

It’d be nice to have more cash out options. Having only 2 options is ridiculous.

You should expect to pay $40 per cash out, though they’ll cover money transfer fees for cash outs larger than $300. This is important to note, because they limit cash outs to $2,500 per week (even though you can win as much as $50,000 per week). So, it’ll cost you $160/month if you plan to cash out every week.

And, that’s even if you get your money.

According to one complaint, TopBet is down to only issuing paper checks. And they’re taking 2-3 months to get payments out. The same person said they requested a check on 9/19/2016, but hasn’t received anything since – a check, tracking number, nothing …except for a canned response.

Many other commenters have said the same thing. One commenter said payments have been getting slower and slower. Another claimed it took 43 days to get payment to his bank, only to try another cash out and it is day 24 with nothing received but the runaround.

And yet another person complained of still waiting for their July cash out. Their complaint is from the middle of October 2013.

In June one person said they received a wire transfer 5 days later for $2,000. This looks like a fluke, though, because someone posted in May they’ve been waiting for payment since March.

While it’s normal for offshore sites to have issues cashing players out, 3+ months is uncalled for, as are the canned responses. The least TopBet can do is give players tracking numbers and personal responses.

We hope this is merely a short term lapse in judgement, and not a glimpse of what’s to come.

Conclusion

Okay, now that we’ve reached the end …what the heck do we think of TopBet.eu?

We can go either way.

On one hand, they continue to work with fraudster FutureBet. They also happen to be working with BetSoft, who’s been in the news recently for rigging jackpots. And, above all, players are complaining about how long it’s taking for TopBet to ship them their money.

On the other hand, they’ve been in business a long time, and have been under new management for 5-6 years. They’re licensed, regulated and accept US players. They handle their own payment processing now, too.

We also scoped out a sportsbook rating list we know we can trust, and the owner/operator of the website has given them a B- rating.

So, taking all this into account…

We recommend TopBet, but only if you already have an account at one of the other top tier sportsbooks, such as Bovada, 5Dimes or BetOnline. And if you do sign up with TopBet, deposit a nominal amount and understand they’re 2-3+ months behind on payments …with no clear sign if that will improve or get worse over the coming months.

Sports Betting

TopBet is not one of the handful of books around the world
that offer noticeably good odds. They make up for that by having
a user-friendly betting interface, a big selection of games and
US pro sports, and overnight lines on leagues like the NBA and
Major League Baseball.

The available wagers at TopBet focus mainly on American
sports. Over the past couple of years, the site has added some
new markets (cricket and rugby chief among them) to add some
international appeal and variety to what was at one time an
exclusively US sports-based lineup of available bets. I cover
these in more detail in the Sports Covered section below.

Another positive feature of the sportsbook section of the
site that I’ve come across in a few other reviews of TopBet is
the fact that their lines are “up early.” At my last visit, I
checked this out for myself, and sure enough, overnight lines
were available for all the MLB games the following day.

The main focus is the “big four:” US pro football, baseball,
hockey, and basketball. Here’s a list of the other markets

It’s hard to overlook how many prop bets TopBet makes
available. I’m used to reviewing sites that list a half-dozen or
so prop bets on major sporting events, but TopBet takes it to
the next level. The site may list three-dozen proposition bets
on high-profile games, like league championships. TopBet also
allows props to make up parlays, a feature I haven’t seen in the
online bookmaking industry in years.

A disappointing oversight in TopBet’s betting selection is
the site’s lack of any available race bets on horses or
greyhounds. Even if you aren’t a big fan of racebook bets, you
can always count on the online racebook to help clear rollover
requirements. I’m always happy to see variety in a site’s
betting options, and TopBet has that covered if all you’re
interested in is traditional American sports.

To give you an idea of the betting ranges allowed at the
site, I’ll share the range for a few popular bets. If you’re

Casino

As I talked about earlier, TopBet’s casino is not really the
focus of the site’s business. TopBet has always been a
sportsbook first and foremost. But it’s nice to see any site
using Betsoft games – Betsoft has designed some of the best
online slots, games with high replay value and great player
value to boot.

The thing TopBet’s casino has going for it is its willingness
to accept and work with customers from the USA. The site’s
limited deposit and withdrawal methods are nonetheless ready to
work directly with US-issued credit and debit cards, so for
Americans with limited access to online gaming, the site is a
godsend.

Reviewers are generally positive about the site’s promotional
lineup for casino customers, though I think they’re mostly
talking about the first deposit match bonus and the reload
bonus. I think the site’s referral bonus program is pretty good,
too. Here are the details on each of the site’s three

First Deposit Match Bonus

Casino customers making their first deposit are offered the same 50% deposit match bonus up to

If there is anything to complain about in this section, it’s
that these games have somewhat homogenous features. Many of them
are five-reel, thirty-payline titles with a wild symbol and a
simple luck-based bonus round. Though they look better than 99%
of the other slots on the market, after a while, the sameness of
the titles TopBet has chosen for their 3D Betsoft library gets a
little grating.

Slot Machines

This section is where the site’s other slots are kept. All of
Betsoft’s titles are housed in the 3D section, as described
above.

The twenty-seven slots in this section are all designed by
AceGaming, and they’re noticeably lower-quality than the site’s
3D Betsoft titles. The games look dated, like slots you might
have played twelve years ago in Vegas. But my complaints don’t
end with their overall design – their selection of only
twenty-seven slots is disappointing number. Slot players are
used to having hundreds of options at both brick and mortar and
online gaming venues.

The variety in terms of game layout is one nice feature of
this section of TopBet’s library – from traditional three reel
single line games to much more complicated “243 Ways” style
games, this section has a lot of variety. If only the designs
were more modern, included licensed titles, or a few more
industry-quality effects.

Blackjack

I’m not sure why TopBet made a special category for
blackjack, considering they host just four variants. Most
casinos have more than four blackjack variants listed in their
“Table Games” or “Specialty Games” section. Here’s a quick
review of each of the site’s four blackjack titles:

“Blackjack”

Is the closest thing to the standard Vegas game
available at TopBet. The site promises “single deck games
available,” but doesn’t elaborate on just how many decks players
are facing in the other versions, which makes me a little
nervous. The game gives you the option of playing between one
and five hands at once. Players can split once per round, and
blackjack pays 3:2.

“Blackjack VIP”

Is identical to “Blackjack” except that it
offers higher limits, with max bet size at $2,000 at my last
visit. The design is also a little different, but I didn’t
notice that when I played, I just read it in a review and
double-checked. Sure enough, it’s designed to look a little more
“fancy.”

“Sidebet Blackjack”

Is a gimmicky variant that offers five
different side wagers (each with their own payout) per round.
The highest paying side bet in the game is the Mega Match, which
pays out 2,000:1 if the player and the dealer’s first two cards
are suited King and Queen. Other side bets available include the
Twenty Bet (7:1 if the dealer’s first two cards total twenty
